Want to boost giving to your favorite causes? Position your gift as a match or challenge to encourage others to get involved. When you offer a match or challenge, your name will appear on the campaign website. If you would like to be listed as anonymous, be sure to mark the "Please do not display my name" check box on the giving form.
MATCHING GIFTS
What is a match? Matching gifts are a great way to show your support for giving day and encourage others to get involved. There are two types of matching gifts: Per-Dollar and Per-Donor.
What is a per-dollar match? When you set up a Per-Dollar matching donation, you agree to donate a certain amount for every dollar donated by others, for a certain period of time, up to a pre-defined maximum. For example, you could agree to donate $1 for every $1 donated, for the next five days, up to $500.
What is a per-donor match? When you set up a Per-Donor matching donation, you agree to donate a certain amount for each donor who gives to the campaign, for a certain period of time, up to a pre-defined maximum. For example, you could agree to donate $25 for each donor who gives to the campaign, for the next ten days, up to $500.
How do I now the status of my match? When you offer a match, it will appear on the campaign’s Donors tab and the results of your match will appear on the Advocates tab. Specifically, you will see the number of donors and amount you have matched. While the match is active, all of the details will appear on the campaign page, including the amount you are matching, the duration of the match, the maximum donation amount and how much you have matched thus far.
CHALLENGE GIFTS
What is a challenge? Challenge gifts are a great way to show your support for giving day and encourage others to get involved. There are two types of challenge gifts: Donor-Based and Dollar-Based.
What is a donor-based challenge? When you set up a Donor-Based Challenge, you agree to donate a defined amount if others contribute a certain aggregate amount within a fixed period of time. For example, you could agree to give $500 if others give $500 in the next 2 hours.
What is a dollar-based challenge? When you set up a Dollar-Based Challenge, you agree to donate a defined amount if a certain number of gifts are received in a fixed period of time. For example, you could give $1,000 if 10 new gifts are received in the next hour.
How can I see the status of my challenge? When you offer a challenge, it will appear on the campaign's Donors tab and the results will appear on the Advocates tab. Specifically, you will be able to see the number of donors and mount you have offered. While the challenge is active, you can see all of the detail on the campaign page, including the amount and duration of the challenge.
